Construction Price Index Second Quarter 2016

The Construction Price Index, which stood at 113.8 as at March 2016 increased marginally (by 0.1 % or 0.1 point) during the second quarter of 2016 to 113.9 in June 2016.
On a monthly basis, the index remained unchanged in April 2016, increased by 0.1% in May 2016 and maintained the same level in June 2016.
The 0.1% increase in May 2016, was the result of increases of 1.1% in the prices of steel bars and 1.2% in the prices of galvanised corrugated cast iron sheeting.
As a consequence of the above changes, the “Materials” sub-index registered an increase of 0.2% in May 2016.
During the second quarter of 2016, no change was registered in the “Labour”, “Hire of plant” and “Transport” sub-indices.
